Plate LXVIII. Ellen Scott

ELLEN SCOTT. T.V. M. 1902. Vine a stocky, vigorous, healthy grower; leaf not lobed, smooth, dark green, cluster very large, conical, often shouldered, short penuncle; berry very persistent, large to very large, round, dark, translucent violet, skin thin, but does not crack, delicate, flesh breaking, melting, of most sprightly delicious character, ripens late, after Catawba. This is exceedingly promising as a splended commercial grape, and unexcelled as a dessert vareity, even among foreign kinds. Named for my wife.
